“Tidewood” was never built, mostly due to financial reasons.  It was just too ambitious for the La Porte, Texas, market at that time.  I sold Section One (36 acres) to three separate individuals for other uses in 1962.  Today, most of this land has become “Port Crossing” on the west side of State Highway 146.  The east side is currently under residential development by Imperial Homes and is called “The Lakes at Fairmont Greens.”  The Weems Family sold all 600 acres of this land to various buyers beginning in 1972, and sold the last one in 2003.  With “Tidewood,” I was trying to stimulate early development of this raw land.
